Matt Crump hit a grand slam, and Kishon Frett went deep as well as the #2-seed TCA Conquerors won the opening round of the district tournament 11-1 over the #7 Interlachen Rams.

Crump's grand slam (2) came on a 2-0 fastball and sailed over the left-field fence to cap a seven-run second inning that also included RBI's from Dawson Fietsam and Dylan Simmons. The big blow followed a three-run rally from Fietsam (RBI ground ball) and Simmons (two-run single) to make the score 6-0. Conner Aldrich (walk), Frett (walk), and Simmons all scored ahead of Crump on the grand slam, and the Conquerors led 10-0 at that point.

Frett homered (5) with two outs and two runs already in during the Conquerors' first at bat. Aldrich drove in Bryan Muniz (lead-off single) with a base hit, and Simmons drove in Aldrich with a sacrifice fly before Frett launched his fifth home run of the season. The Conquerors added one more in the bottom of the third on a sacrifice fly from Justin Simmons that plated Aldrich.

Frett finished the night 2 for 2 with a walk, a run driven in, and two runs scored. Dylan Simmons drove in three overall, and Crump had a double in addition to his grand slam. Ethan Dage, Noah Couch, and Matt Luxenberg also hit safely for the Conquerors.

C.J. Crawford (W: 1-0, 0.55 ERA) pitched four innings for the win, allowing one unearned run on only two hits. Crawford walked no one and struck out six. Tyson Tucker pitched a perfect seventh inning to close it out.

The Conquerors (18-7) will play #3-seed Providence (16-8) in the district semifinal at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Providence defeated Duval Charter 15-0 while getting home runs from Tyler Callihan and Tucker Tallbot as reported by News4Jax and the Florida Times Union's Justin Barney.

Tuesday's winner will advance to the Class 4A, District 2 final Thursday night and take on the winner of Tuesday's second semifinal between Bishop Snyder and Episcopal. Top-seeded Bishop Snyder had a bye on Monday, and #4 Episcopal defeated #6 Baldwin 10-4.
