Kishon Frett homered, and multiple Conquerors had multi-hit games as Trinity Christian Academy defeated Georgia's South Forsyth High School 12-2 in five innings Thursday night in LaGrange, Georgia.
Frett capped a four-run rally with a two-run shot (1) in the bottom of the first. He hit the first pitch he saw over the left-field fence to score Matt Crump (single) and make the score 4-1. Earlier in the inning, Conner Aldrich tied the game at 1-1 with a base hit that scored Bryan Muniz (walk). Dawson Fietsam stole home to put the Conquerors ahead 2-1, and Trinity never relinquished the lead.
The Conquerors scored a run in the second and four more in the fourth to build a 9-1 lead. Aldrich picked up RBI's 2, 3, and 4 in the game with a three-run double in the third to finish the rally.
Ethan Dage provided the final blow with a run-scoring single with no outs in the bottom of the fifth. His game-ending hit followed a Jared Donald walk, a Justin Simmons single, a Muniz RBI double, and a Fietsam RBI single.
Muniz was 3 for 3 with 3 R and 2 RBI; Fietsam was 2 for 2 with 2 R and 2 RBI, Aldrich scored twice and drove in four, and Donald drew three walks and turned them all into runs.
South Forsyth scored an unearned run in the first on a single from Mazzei and one more in the fifth on a solo home run from Cowan; otherwise, Trinity pitching held the offense to only four total hits.
Dylan Simmons (W: 1-0, 0.72 ERA) won it with 4 2/3 innings on the mound, during which he allowed two runs, one earned, while walking one and fanning eight. Justin Parrish finished with 1/3 of an inning as he got the only man he faced.
The Conquerors continue their trip to LaGrange on Friday when they play Niceville High School at 7:00 p.m. One last game Saturday at 10:00 a.m. vs. LaGrange High School will end the trip to Georgia before Trinity travels to Allen D. Nease on Tuesday, March 5, Two more road games follow, and the first home game is scheduled for March 12 vs. district opponent Baldwin High School.
