Bailey Cooley went the distance, Amaya Ross homered and scored three times, and three different Conquerors drove in runs as TCA Softball shut out district rival Providence 4-0 Tuesday night across town.
Cooley allowed only four hits in seven innings while walking two and striking out seven. She allowed two base runners in only one inning on route to the shut out.
Ross lined one over the center-field fence for a solo home run (2) in the top of the fifth to make the score 3-0. The Conquerors started the scoring in the second on Lindsey Smith's single into right to score Tatiyana Brathwaite, who ran for Linzie LaFavor (walk). An error allowed Ross to score in the third, and Trinity tacked on an insurance run in the seventh when Morgan McMillian's sacrifice fly plated Ross, who scored for the third time.
Overall, Ross's line reads 3-4, HR, RBI, 3R, K.
Ross (3), Cooley (2), Smith (2), LaFavor, Breezy Burnette, and Hannah Rivers all hit safely for the Conquerors.
