Three Conquerors scored double-digit points and 11 players scored overall to help lead Trinity Christian Academy to a 70-34 win over the visiting Eagles of Seacoast Christian School Monday night at home.
Jamaree Spikes led all scorers with 17 points with 13 of them coming in the first half. Spikes drained nine points as part of Trinity's 23-7 second quarter to turn a modest three-point deficit after one into a 13-point lead at the half.
Jerry Ylluste scored 13 points overall, but he also stole a number of possessions away from the Eagles and blocked a large number of shots. Ylluste converted 5 of 8 free throws and joined Spikes in leading the Conquerors to a huge second quarter.
Trinity fell behind late in the first and trailed 14-11 at the buzzer. The big second quarter and a 19-7 third gave the Conquerors a 53-28 lead with eight minutes left to play. The defense held Seacoast to one basket and four free throws in the fourth period while the offense added 17 points to finish off the win.
Colton Warren hit a pair of three-point shots in the second and added two deuces in the third for a total of 10 points. Miles Brooks spread his eight points evenly throughout the game, and George Hawkins came on strong in the second half to finish with seven. Dylan Seikbert scored his five points in the fourth quarter, and William Tippens had a pair of lay-ups to tally four. Evan Wilson and Xavier Cobb each added two while Dominique Killens and Phillip Fulton each hit a free throw.
Seacoast's Isaiah Trotter finished with 10 points to lead the Eagles. Woody Corniel followed with seven while Tre Hester had six. Josh Bermudez scored four, T.J. Newkirk hit a three-pointer, and Manassee Corniel and Donnavai Manor each added a field goal.
Trinity will next play at West Nassau on Wednesday, December 19, before finishing the first semester of play at the Terry Parker Christmas Shootout December 21-22 and the Clay High School Christmas Classic December 27-29.
